award-winning film by Director Spike Lee, Do the Right Thing. -------------------------------------------------------------------- GMAI and Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión Will Offer Class on Photography for Film The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in association with Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), will organize a class on photography for film. The class will take place February 15-19, 2010, at FUNGLODE Headquarters. The course will provide students with a detailed overview of the essentials of cinematographic photography. Class instruction will focus on conceptualization from technical scripts to storyboards; lighting techniques; film format; and composition. The class will also discuss the relationship between photography and cinematography. Instruction will be provided by Luís Najmias, Professor of Photography at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión and Instituto Superior de Arte. The workshop will take place February 8-12, 2010, at FUNGLODE Headquarters. The workshop will cover all aspects of visual affects from set design and special affects to costume creation and hair and makeup. Practical components will include set and costume design. Instruction will be provided by Corina Mestre, Professor of Art Direction at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión and Instituto Superior de Arte. Registration information: -------------------------------------------------------------------- GFDD, FUNGLODE and GMAI Invited You to Attend the Theatrical Performance Juan and John Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and their Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI) invited you to attend the theatrical performance Juan and John, February 6, at 7:00 pm at Plaza Cultural Mauricio Báez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The play was written by Roger Guenveur Smith, and will feature performance by the actor, playwright and director. The production will include sound and video design by Marc Anthony Thompson. The story of the play is inspired by the friendship between baseball legends Juan Marichal and John Roseboro. The play was first presented at the Public Theater in New York City. Date: February 6, 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Acting Workshop “Improvisation with Roger Guenveur Smith” From January 12-14, 2010, the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development GFDD and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will present a workshop on acting with Obie Award winning writer, actor and director, Roger Guenveur Smith. The workshop is directed towards emerging actors interested in breaking into the world of theater, television and film. Instruction will focus on improvisation, with particular focus on coordination of voice and movement. Date: January 12-14, 2009 For more information on this workshop, or to register, please contact the FUNGLODE Audiovisual Department: E-mail: igm@globalfoundationdd.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Scriptwriting Course with Eliseo Altunaga The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will offer a two-week course on scriptwriting in collaboration with Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (EICTV) in Cuba. The workshop will be held nightly February 1-12, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Students will learn about the elements of scriptwriting, including nomenclature, character development, dialogue and plot development, with the end goal of producing a 10-minute script at the close of the course. Students will also learn about elements of projection, film analysis and review and studio production. Instruction will be provided by Professor Eliseo Altunaga.
