GFDD, FUNGLODE and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Sign
Agreement of Collaboration

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD),
Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE)
and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, this past Friday, January 30, signed
an agreement of collaboration that will promote development of knowledge in
the area of the audiovisual arts.
The agreement was signed by President of the Dominican Republic and
Honorary President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Leonel Fernández
and Rector of Higher Education at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Father
Joaquín Sánchez S.J.
The agreement symbolizes GFDD, FUNGLODE and Pontificia Universidad
Javeriana’s commitment to realize joint conferences and seminars on themes
pertinent to the audiovisual arts such as television, film and video
production; educational and cultural television. Similarly, the agreement
confirms the institutions’ shared interest in promoting the creation of
co-productions of different genres (i.e. feature-length films, short films,
special programs, television series, documentaries, etc.) between both
institutions. The signing parties desire that the agreement will contribute
to strengthening the existing relations amongst them.
The agreement will be valid for a four-year period, after which it will be
renewed automatically for equal periods of time unless one of the parties
indicates interest in ending the agreement.
GFDD and FUNGLODE, through the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), provide
up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with
comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production,
as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the
Dominican Republic.
The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly
qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to
the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.
