Students Learn About Moving Image Techniques During 2-D Animation Class Offered by GMAI

Twenty students participated in the 2-D Animation Class organized by the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), in association with Daytona State College that took place December 15 – 19, 2008 at FUNGLODE Headquarters. Course instruction provided by Visual Arts Professor at Daytona State College Bart Christner focused on 2-D animation utilizing traditional methods and software applications. Students learned about the basics of moving images, the creation of storyboards, scriptwriting, surface and track lines.

GMAI, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is dedicated to providing professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.

GMAI regularly offers introductory, intermediate and advanced courses. It also organizes events that promote greater understanding of the media arts, such as conferences, screenings and interviews with filmmakers.
