Special Film Festival Broadcast Begins Today
New York, November 2, 2008

The countdown has begun. In two weeks, we will inaugurate the II Dominican Global Film Festival to be held in five cities around the country: Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Nagua and Higüey. To spread the word about this fascinating event and to give people an up-close glimpse of what is taking place behind the scenes, a special TV program “Rumbo al Festival” will begin its broadcast and will continue to broadcast throughout the Festival until its close on November 23.

From Monday through Friday at 9:00 p.m. on Digital Channels 15 and Telemicro International, viewers can find out all they need and want to know about the second edition of the Film Festival, taking place November 18-23. Rumbo al Festival (Road to the Festival), will keep viewers – inside and outside the country – informed and updated on the 26 feature-length films and 10 documentaries that will form part of this year’s Festival Program. Viewers will see film trailers and interviews with members of the film crews, and will be able to participate in film trivia contests, and will have the opportunity to win tickets and season passes to the Festival.

Telemico Internacional is a dominican channel that transmits a wide range of programs to the United States, and can also be viewed online at: http://delicast.com/tv/Telemicro_TV

The special broadcast will include daily reports on each one of the five provinces where the Festival is being held, where a selection of the best international cinema will be premiered. The viewers will also witness what has gone on behind the scenes during this past year of preparation, as they see how the GFDD and FUNGLODE teams organized this amazing international event.

Production of the program, “Rumbo al Festival,” is being realized by the GFDD and FUNGLODE Audiovisuals Department and the Institute of Global Media (IGM), led by Omar De La Cruz, with support from Wandro Quiroz, Ricky Frías, Taína Rodríguez, Braudin Eusebio,  Virginia Binet, Jennyver Caraballos, Raymond Jacques, Wandry Méndez, Carolina Abreu, Rafael Reyes, Fior D’aliza Blanco, Shahzad Yunas and Alberto Matos.
