Dominican Students Selected to Study at International School of Film and Television in Cuba
New York, June 19, 2008
GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), in collaboration with the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV – International School for Television and Film) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, awarded three scholarships to Dominican students to attend the university and fulfill one of its three year academic programs during the period of 2008 to 2011.
In April, a number of students between the ages of 22 and 28 were pre-selected by a National Evaluation Committee comprised of Dominican filmmakers, film critics, cultural experts and sociologists based on artistic ability, creative potential and prior related experience. Chosen students then went on to take the EICTV entrance exam.
Based on exam results, three Dominican students were selected by university officials to receive full scholarships.
Agreement between GFDD, FUNGLODE and EICTV
Awarding scholarships forms part of the agreement signed by EICTV and GFDD and FUNGLODE in December 2006, establishing the three institutions’ shared commitment to realizing collaborative training and capacity building programs. This agreement includes granting full scholarships to Dominican students to carry out studies at the International School of Television and Film.
