The Global Media Arts Institute Organizes Documentary Film Course

 The Global Media Arts Institute  (GMAI), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will offer a course on documentary film, April 28 - May 2, 2008 at the FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.
 
The object of the workshop, directed towards undergraduate and graduate students of social communication, journalism and communication arts, as well as television reporters, is to define and study the history essential elements of documentary film.
 
Throughout the five days, students will become familiar with how the genre can serve as a creative interpretation of reality. They will study the various possibilities through concrete examples of films, which they will view and analyze. Additionally, participants will take part in creative workshops and carry-out their own projects, which will culminate in the making of a documentary film. 
 
The course will be given by Jorge Fuentes, Professor of documentary film at the International School for Film and Television in Santo Antonio de los Baños, Cuba.
 
GMAI is dedicated to providing professional and innovative training to professionals in all areas of modern audiovisual production, with the intention of enhancing and expanding the multimedia industry in the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a fundamental role in the creation and development of a well-trained and highly professional workforce that will contribute to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the country.
