News FUNGLODE Participates in Prix Jeunesse International Children’s Television Festival The Prix Jeunesse, held in Munich, is the most important children’s television event and is being attended by directors, screenwriters, educators, researchers and representatives of the audiovisual sector from more than 60 countries.
Omar de La Cruz, Director of FUNGLODE’s Audiovisual Department and Sandra Cadavid, Director of Educational Television, attended the activity along with directors, screenwriters, educators, researchers and audiovisual professionals and technicians from over 60 countries. Throughout this five-day meeting, May 28 to June 2nd, participants are meeting to visualize, analyze and debate the different film proposals for children and adolescents. Prizes are also being awarded by category. “Different and the Same: Celebrating Diversity” is the theme of this year’s meeting as organizers and participants seek to raise consciousness about the importance of promoting inclusion and diversity in television programming for children and young people around the world. The topic of diversity will be approached with the view that each child is a unique individual and that these special features should be a starting point. The theoretical approach of the debate takes into account that in speaking about diversity one must contemplate ethnic differences and similarities, nationality, skin color and physical characteristics. Individual differences resulting from health conditions, economic capacity, age, gender, culture and individual life circumstances can also constitute the necessary tools for making one feel accepted and a valued and active member of society. Work Meetings In the meantime, De la Cruz and Cadavid took advantage of being in Munich to meet with Cathrin Cronlein, Sales Director of the Bavarian Film Studios with the idea of establishing relations for future exchanges and productions in area of film in the DR.
