GMAI Presents “Global Film for Peace and
Development”
Call for course entries open: Introduction to Audiovisual Production:
Film and TV
Santo Domingo, April 26, 2010
The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of
the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, in coordination with One Race
Global Films Foundation invites all visual art lovers to be part of the
“Global Film for Peace and Development” through the course
“Introduction to Audiovisual Production: Film and TV.”
This program, in its fifth year of training and educating individuals, seeks
to prepare a select group to work in the country’s film and television
industry.
Understanding that the audiovisual medium has the capacity to give a voice
to those who have none and build a powerful instrument to spread a message
of peace, development and democratic values around the world, GMAI
incorporates filmmaking for peace and development into this course for which
we have named it “Global Filmmaking For Peace and Development (GFPD).”
The GFPD Project seeks to bring together young people from various countries
in a learning and creative process through feature films, short films and
documentaries that essentially contain messages of peace, family values and
development.
For the five week duration of the course, participants will have the
opportunity to learn and develop film techniques using digital video
cameras; they will also learn about lighting and sound, editing with Final
Cut Pro, writing film scripts on Final Draft while becoming familiar with
the role of the director, producer, cameraperson, actors and editors. They
will also film live TV programs using scripts written by themselves.
These efforts are being undertaken to promote a message of world peace and
development and to intensify the educational experience.
The course will be offered from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
by Irving Vincent and George Argento, director and technical coordinator of
New York University’s Opportunity Programs.
Only 12 Dominican students will be selected to be part of this unique
experience.
If you are interested, send your curriculum and completed
application form to:
igm@globalmediaarts.org.
If you like visual arts, film and television, come and be part of this great
experience. You won’t be sorry!
Date: May 24 to June 27
Price: RD$ 8,500.00
