News FUNGLODE Takes Part in the Second Ibero-American Children’s Television Expo in Colombia The Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo participated in the Second Ibero- American Children’s Television Expo held in Bogota, Colombia on March 25 & 26 through the organization’s Director of Educational Television, Sandra Cavidad. The event was organized by the National Television Commission of Colombia, which divides its efforts between programmers, independent producers and public and private TV channels in Latin America. The annual event is the frontline market for children’s films in the region where offers are made, interchanges and transactions take place and high quality children’s programming and shows are bought and sold. Communication among the operators in the children’s entertainment industry from various countries takes place at the Expo where they share experiences, knowledge and audiovisual material. In addition, FUNGLODE joined an agreement of wills for the co-production of an international version of the children’s reality show “La Lleva,” produced by the Ministry of Culture along with RTVC Colombia, Centro Ático Pontificia Javeriana University and Channel 13. The idea is to make an international season of the show with five additional episodes made in Colombia wherein a little boy travels around the country to find and meet up with another little boy who is waiting, in another region, for him to arrive so they can play together and become friends. Within this dynamic, the little boy who hosts the traveler in the last episode made in Colombia will then travel to Argentina with “La Lleva” where he will begin another international voyage looking for children from the Dominican Republic, Chile, Mexico and then back home again to Colombia where in ends. Co-producers of this film project include Chile’s Catholic University Foundation, the Encounter Channel in Argentina, the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and the Future Channel of Brazil. This year’s Children’s Television Expo brought together more than 400 people from 38 institutions. Last year it resulted in exchanges and transactions involving around 45 new projects in search of co-financing. |
