GMAI Will Offer Scholarships for Students to Attend Film Course at NYU
New York, May 26, 2009

The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), New York University’s Opportunity Programs and One Race Films awarded five scholarships to Dominican students 18 to 20 years of age interested in audiovisual arts and/or television and film production.

Scholarship recipients Cristina Zapata Taveras (Colegio San Judas Tadeo), Ramón Alfonso Peña Rodríguez  (Escuela Nacional de Artes y Oficios (ENAO)), Johanna Jiménez (Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Santiago), Carlos Andrés Peralta Cruz (Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra), Luvil González Peña (INTEC) will realize a six week film course at New York University. Students were chosen based on their academic performance and professional interests.

GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic.

The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.
