GMAI Workshop Participants Learn About Photography and
Cinematography

The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global
Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE),
in association with Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV),
organized a class on photography for film. The class took place March 16-20,
2009, at FUNGLODE Headquarters.
The course provided students with instruction on composition, framing,
light and color. Students learned the relationship between photography and
cinematography. Instruction was provided by Luís Najmias, Professor of
Photography at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión and Instituto
Superior de Arte. Seventeen students enrolled in the workshop.
GMAI is dedicated to providing professionals in the television and film
industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest trends in audiovisual
production, as part of its overall mission to expand the multimedia industry
of the Dominican Republic. The Institute seeks to play a key role in the
development of a highly qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that
significantly contributes to the economic development, competitiveness and
modernization of the nation.
GMAI regularly offers introductory, intermediate and advanced courses. It
also organizes events that promote greater understanding of the media arts,
such as conferences, screenings and interviews with filmmakers.
