GMAI Will Offer Scholarships for Students to Attend Film Course
at NYU
Santo Domingo, March 5, 2009
The Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), an initiative of Global
Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)
and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE),
in collaboration with New York University’s Opportunity Programs and One
Race Films, will offer five scholarships to Dominican students 18 to 20
years of age, interested in the area of audiovisual arts and or television
and film production. Selected students will realize a six week internship
in New York City.
University students interested in applying are required to posses a
grade point average of 3.0 or higher. High school students must possess a
grade point average of over 80. Students must have a United States visa and
must be available during the months of July and August 2009.

GMAI is dedicated to providing up-and-coming professionals in the
television and film industry with comprehensive instruction in the latest
trends in audiovisual production, as part of its overall mission to expand
the multimedia industry of the Dominican Republic.
The Institute seeks to play a key role in the development of a highly
qualified Dominican audiovisual industry that significantly contributes to
the economic development, competitiveness and modernization of the nation.
